Money Can't Buy You Happiness,
But Having Self Confidence Can!
Have you ever considered what money and self confidence can do for your life?
Money is certainly powerful. It can buy you many things, such as the survival basics, like food, water and shelter. But it can also give you the luxuries in life, such as travel, expensive cars and designer clothes.
Have you also noticed that the things we buy with money are usually only really enjoyed in the short term?
Example 1:
Whenever you go on a holiday, soon after, you want another holiday, and sometimes you start wanting the next one before your current holiday has even finished!
Example 2:
It isn't long after getting a new car, that you want to upgrade again
Example 3:
How many times does it take for you to wear your new clothes before you go hunting for more?
We all seem to want money, yet the pleasures it gives us are usually very short term. We still end up dis-satisfied.
On the other hand HAVING SELF CONFIDENCE is much deeper and the happiness can last forever because it is a skill that lives inside you during your progress through life.

Recently Julie Bartkus from http://www.motivateteachers.com/ tracked me down to interview me about self confidence. She helps child care professionals create dynamic, positive, and productive environments for working and learning through customized keynote presentations, workshops, coaching and consulting services.
Julie dug deep with her questions getting me to share many areas of my personal life when I really lacked self esteem and confidence.
I shared what the first 20 years of my life was like. I explained that I was a social disaster and used to make all the excuses I could think of to avoid socialising with anyone and everyone.
Then I explained exactly what turned my life around and how I went about saying good bye to the paralysing fears that ruled my life for so long.
During this period, I realised one of the most important things about self confidence.
I realised that everyone lacks confidence with something in their lives (even the people who always look confident). We all have fears and are challenged with various aspects of our lives.
It's all about your perception of the issue and how you deal with it that determines the level of fear and confidence you have, and you can actually control this. You determine if fear rules the situation or if self confidence does.
So whether you are struggling with confidence or only lack confidence in certain areas of your life, this interview and the strategies shared can certainly be used to get desired results.

BE THANKFUL
Virtually every person alive is afraid (or doesn't want) to die yet. Because if they did, they would have committed suicide a long time ago.
There is so much in our lives that we take for granted and rarely ever take the time to appreciate.
Through my travels, I have noticed that people in poorer countries like Vietnam and Philippines generally appreciate life and are happier than those in wealthier countries such as Australia and USA. Many of those in richer countries have everything they could ever want, but still complain and feel dis-satisfied with parts of their lives (or even their whole life)!
In my opinion, the reason why the "poorer" people are happy is because they understand that the basics are the most important elements. They have family and friends and very few possessions and yet they are thankful and appreciative. To me, this makes them "richer" than most of the "wealthier" people of the world.
Many of them view spending a week at the beach with the family and friends to be a special holiday!
The "wealthy" on the other hand spend more on fast food in a year than the poorer people earn in a year! They have everything they could ever need and so much more yet they are generally dissatisfied with their lives.
If we begin to adopt the idea of being thankful for EVERYTHING we have in our life, including all the people we have, we would start to live life on a happier and brighter level. A level of appreciation, happiness, and peace.
The better we feel, the more we are able to increase our energy, focus, results, self esteem and confidence. Start listing or thinking deeply about all the things you can be thankful for in your life. Don't forget the basic things like shelter, bed, refrigerator, clothes, friends, variety of food and even the freedom to choose.
I recommend you do this every day when you wake up. It's a nice way to start the day, and do it whenever you start to feel dis-satisfied.
Whenever you have a hard time appreciating anything in your life, always think of those who don't have it (bed, shelter, partner, freedom, job, luxury, holiday, money). You will quickly start appreciating even things that seem so common. This truly is a powerful experience.

For the next few weeks, I will share one of the ways for you to increase your confidence immediately...
This week's focus on
improving your confidence right now is:
We all possess skills and knowledge that others around us do not have. All you have to do is find those poeple and offer your skills/knowledge to them.
What are you good at?
>> Are you good with kids?
>> Are you good at changing nappies?
>> Are you good at cleaning or ironing?
>> Are you good with pets?
>> Are you good with cars?
>> Are you good with gardening or landscaping?
>> Are you good with computers, the Internet or emails?
>> Are you good at finding bargains?
>> Are you good at foreign languages?
>> Are you good at cooking?
Whatever it is you are good at, find someone who is not good at those areas. Simply offer to help or show/explain how to do it.
When I say "offer" your help...
>> Do not tell them they need your help (maybe they want to try and do it or learn it by themselves)
>> Do not go in there with the attitudue "Look at me, aren't I great for knowing this" (that puts people off more than anything else)
>> Do not tell them they are silly, stupid or the like for not knowing. After all, they also have skills you don't have (this kind of attitude greatly affects the person's self esteem and confidence - I'm sure you have experienced this feeling before)
>> Simply offer help and explain what you are doing.
For you it's a piece of cake, but for them it's not, so be patient and enjoy helping. You will get so much praise. They will thank you a million times and will even say things like, "You are so smart" or "How did you do that?".
It's amazing. This alone will skyrocket your confidence, and of course you can do this every day if you like!
